The Modern Warfare Franchise spans almost a decade with its highly advanced weaponry and odd numbering system. The latest installment in the franchise is Modern Warfare 3, which features a number of different, and more advanced methods of play. Let’s take a look at a few of the COD Modern Warfare 3 features that you may come to expect.
Campaign: The campaign mode is much of what you would expect. The player(you) is placed in a scenario or story, and must play through to the resolution. Like most of the newer COD campaigns however, it is generally geared toward getting the player used to the multiplayer side of the game. It does, of course have a complete campaign, but most will never touch it again after the first playthrough.
Multiplayer: There are a number of different multiplayer modes, most of which pit the players against eachother. There are a few different modes, including:
Kill Confirmed
In this mode players are tasked with collecting floating dog tags from enemy corpses. This collection is mandatory, otherwise the kill will not be registered. If, however, you pick up dog tags from the other team’s kill, they will be denied the kill, and the point.
Team Defender
Each team tries to capture a flag which is dropped by a person killed at the beginning of the match. Picking up the flag gives you one point for your pointstreak. In addition to that you gain extra experience points.
Private Matches
Though you can play all game modes in a private match, there are a few available which are not available in public. For example, the ‘infected’ mode, along with Drop Zone’. Gun game is another example, as well as ‘one in the chamber’ which is also a mode on COD Black Ops.
There are several other modes, including classics like Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Capture the Flag. In addition to having the games available, players will also be able to track their progress through a robust ranking system built directly into the game. This is one of the most popular COD Modern Warfare 3 features.

Another popular mode in Modern Warfare 3, as you probably know, is Prestige. This is available to any player who has reached the rank of 55 in multiplayer. Once it is reached, and all of the skills are maxed, the player can choose to enter prestige mode which provides said player with a special medal beside their name in multiplayer, though resets their rank to One. Once the player is reset, they will be able to work their way through the multiplayer levels again, and and gain level 55. At that point, the player may choose to prestige again and receive a new medal. That being said, not every level one player you run into will be new to the game! With downloadable content and plenty of people to play with, this is a very versatile game, and has enough content to keep you busy for several years. Give it a try, as an FPS player, you are bound to like it!
